WELCOME TO MYOB

M.Y.O.B  – “Mind Your Own Becoming” is a sacred call for all of us to rise together.

We place a new perspective on the term “M.Y.O.B.” – with the word “Becoming” – which denotes that we are all in the process of evolving consciousness together. When our “soul” focus is upon our personal growth to make a difference in this world – beautiful things occur.  We want to share some vital Key Principles that are important to absorb as essential to that “Becoming” the more of you that you are meant to be.

Vision

We see a world where every individual without exception is healed and whole and is valued and welcomed for their unique expression, qualities, and talents.

Mission

MYOB is a community creating safe spaces to open minds and hearts to inspire personal and inter-relational healing and change through open dialog and courageous conversations.

Mind Your Own Becoming is about soul growth – and that only occurs when we have had enough of what we see around us.  The greatest changes historically have been when as a society we can no longer process the pain and inequities we see.  When we are open to confront, no matter how uncomfortable,  our own inherent racism and entitlements based on a sense of “superiority,” gender, or ethnic prejudices, and be accountable for the thoughts we carry – healing  and new understanding can emerge.   We can authentically begin to bring about a world vision of love and regard for everyone, without exception.   And this is a multi-generational call to action. We will be honored for you to join us in this quest.

PURPOSE

The purpose of this organization shall be to offer educational classes, socially relevant workshops, and programs for personal well-being:  emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually.  To be consciously aware of how we can impact healing;  past, present, and future for the evolution of humanity.

April 26 to May 1st I will be at A Time to Deepen, the Desert Retreat I have created in Carefree AZ and after the retreat I am visiting beloved family in Tucson. I am thrilled with what our Presenters have in May and what they will bring to our May theme.

Theme for May: What is WOKE – Not a Good Idea?

Original Definition: “Being aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice.”   How do we move forward NOW?

May 1: WOKE Isn’t A Threat — It’s An Invitation.

Rev. Dr. Karen Oxrider

In today’s polarized world, the word “woke” has been twisted, politicized, and misunderstood. But at its core, being woke simply means being awake—aware of injustice, attuned to the experiences of others, and willing to take compassionate action. It’s an invitation to care more, to see more clearly, and to show up with compassion. In this thought-provoking and heartfelt talk, Rev. Dr. Karen Oxrider, author of The Spark That Ignites, reframes the conversation around “wokeness” and invites us to return to its original intent: awareness that leads to purpose. We will explore WOKE as a spark for Good.

May 8: Conscious!
May 15: Awake

Rev. Celeste Frazier

The conversations in the dining room of the plantation and the conversations in the slave quarters are markedly different. The conversation in the boardroom and in the food stamp line are not the same. Why? When someone thinks they are the center of the Universe, other conversations become unnecessary. Wake up and you may find that your values are not my values…or stay asleep and watch your world crumble. Being woke means being a healthy co-conspirator and not a penitential white individual. What is your posture?

A penitential white individual is stuck in guilt and embarrassment and paralyzed by fear. It’s awkward and nonproductive. More than apologies, support and moving together in love will lift the world.

May 22 & 29: Understanding Racial Literacies and Disentangling from the Zombies and Monsters Among Us

Dr. Joaquin Noguera

In this generative discussion, Dr. Noguera will begin by eliciting feedback on the concept of “wokeness” from those in attendance and use it to explore the origins of the term, its appropriation, and its current weaponization. He will then introduce the concept of racial literacies and discuss its importance for decoding and exposing racially violent forces (monsters) and those who willingly, or even unconsciously, aid them (zombies). Finally, we will consider strategies for engaging and consequences of disengaging both monsters and zombies.

What is WOKE – Not a good idea? That meaning feels like a valuable intention for an evolved society and for the world itself. Yet it has become a politically charged word! Could
